Travel Stays: Hotel Murmuri

Privilege Room

Finding a hotel abroad can be a challenge, especially with so many options. Whenever we research travel accommodations, we consider three things: price, location, and the popularity index on TripAdvisor.

What we found during our Barcelona research was how Hotel Murmuri would cost $165 a night over New Year’s, how its location was within walking distance to many attractions, and how its popularity ranking on TripAdvisor was #25 out of 578! With this in mind, we happily booked our 5 night stay.

Upon arrival in Barcelona, we checked in and were greeted enthusiastically and professionally by the front desk clerk. From that moment on, we were pleased in our decision to stay at this hotel.

This relaxed, stylish, and romantic boutique hotel was a perfect fit for our Barcelona retreat. We were given a “Privilege Room”, which consisted of two single beds pushed together to form one bed, a very large bathroom with the best toilet seat ever (it was square and fit our bums beautifully), and even had a balcony overlooking Rambla Cataluna.

Our hotel room also had a huge flat screen TV located on the wall in front of the bed, a spa-like shower with a towel warmer located inside the shower, and plenty of closet space located variously throughout the room.

When exiting the hotel, make a left and walk straight down Rambla de Cataluna. About 20 minutes later, you’ll reach Las Ramblas and about another 15 minutes later, you’ll reach Port Vell, two of Barcelona’s popular attractions.

As guests of Hotel Murmuri, we were told that we could use the amenities at their sister hotel, the Majestic Hotel and Spa Barcelona, located just a few blocks away. Here we could access the rooftop pool, which was closed since it was December, as well as the fitness center.

During our stay, we didn’t actually eat at this hotel’s restaurant, order room service, or drink at the bar. However, Restaurant Murmuri and Bar Marfil both appeared to be stylish and trendy, while the room service menu sounded appetizing.

It is clear why this hotel is #25 on TripAdvisor’s Popularity Index as this hotel had the style, functionality, and travel ease that every traveler craves in an accommodation. We would even consider Hotel Murmuri a sanctuary, as the dimmed light settings in our room made our stay extremely relaxing and romantic after a long day of touring Barcelona.

Hotel Murmuri is located at Rambla de Catalunya, 104 in Barcelona, Spain. For more information on this hotel, click here or call +34 935 500 600.

Guy and Girl Travels Tip: Taxis are very easy to find in Barcelona and finding one around Hotel Murmuri isn’t a problem. The most expensive taxi rides for us within the city were to the MNAC and to visit the beach in Barceloneta. These rides cost approximately €10 each way. Other than that, we paid an average of €5 – €7 whenever we didn’t feel like walking.
